The United Nations is seeking an Individual Contractor for the Associate PSEA Specialist and Speechwriter role. Contribute to important initiatives while enhancing communication strategies. This position is located in the Office of the Special Coordinator on improving the United Nations response to sexual exploitation and abuse (OSCSEA). Responsibilities
- Support OSCSEA’s internal and external communication efforts related to PSEA matters in peacekeeping missions, humanitarian operations, and development settings.
- Support the preparation for speaking engagements by the Under-Secretary-General, including drafting of speeches and talking points.
- Support the Consultant in charge of the system-wide Comprehensive Assessment on PSEA for report proof-reading and formatting.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a system-wide communications strategy on PSEA.
- Monitor and analyze data and trends on SEA allegations, including findings from OSCSEA’s Annual Global PSEA Perceptions Survey, to inform messaging, outreach, and strategic communication responses.
- Review, synthesize, and draft summaries of documents, policies, reports, and media coverage related to PSEA.
- Support the Office’s participation to the UN’s comprehensive assistance to Haiti, with focus on PSEA.

Requirements
Qualifications/special skills
- Academic Qualifications Minimum of a master’s degree in communications, journalism, public policy, international relations, gender studies, human rights, social sciences, peace and security, humanitarian affairs, development studies, or a related field.
- Experience Required minimum 1 year of experience in the field of communications, journalism, gender studies, social sciences, international relations, peace and security, humanitarian affairs and or political affairs, development studies or related fields.
- Experience pertaining to addressing sexual and gender-based violence, sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and/or the protection of civilians is desirable.
- A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in communications, public information, international relations, gender studies, social sciences, peace and security, humanitarian affairs, political affairs, development studies, or a related field.
- Experience in drafting speeches, talking points, reports, or advocacy materials is desirable.
- Experience related to addressing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), and/or the protection of civilians is an asset.
Languages
- Fluency in written and spoken English as well as excellent writing skills.
