The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers a fully funded Research Fellowship for experienced researchers. This prestigious opportunity allows you to conduct innovative research in Germany, promoting international collaboration and advancing your academic career. Highly-qualified international scientists and scholars from all disciplines who completed their doctorates less than 12 years ago and wish to spend extended periods of research in Germany are invited to apply. Candidates can come from any nation and are expected to have their own, clearly defined research profile: they should typically be working at least at the level of assistant professor or junior research group leader or be able to document independent research work over a number of years.

Benefits
- The fellowship amounts to 3,170 EUR, offering the candidates the opportunity to carry out their own long-term research projects (6 to 18 months) in cooperation with academic hosts of their choice at research institutions in Germany.
- The sponsorship entails further benefits and may be flexibly divided into a maximum of 3 visits within a range of 3 years. Short-term visits for study and training purposes or for attending conferences are not eligible for sponsorship.

Eligibility Criteria
- Doctoral level earned within the last 12 years. Certain fields and countries may qualify with a Master’s Diploma plus significant publications, up to 16 years post-degree.
- Applicant must demonstrate through a robust publication record in internationally recognised venues journals, publishing houses.
- Applicants should secure a research position and a detailed support letter from a German academic institution.
- Two expert recommendations.
- Applicant must have german fluency Humanities, Social Sciences, Medicine, if needed or English fluency Natural Sciences, Engineering.
- Applicant must have a minimum of 12 months of residence outside Germany within the 18 months preceding application.
- German citizens qualify only after 5+ years of continuous work/residence abroad.
