The United Nations is seeking a Logistics Officer for 2025. This role involves coordinating logistics operations to support global missions. This position is located in the Logistics Division (LD), Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM), in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). The incumbent will report to the Chief, Movement Control Section or designated official.

Responsibilities
- Prepares logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for planned or new peacekeeping missions. Develops logistical plans for existing missions.
- Develops contingency plans for drawdown and liquidation of missions. Develops and implements methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans.
- Formulates mission-specific Standard Operating Procedures.
- Develops Scopes of Requirement (SOR) for the transportation of military and police personnel, and cargo. Provides sound technical evaluation on the proposals received by the Procurement Division to award contracts.
- Establishes Letters of Assist (LOA) with Member States for the transportation of military and police personnel, and cargo. Prepares all required documentation for the endorsement of the Director, Procurement Division or Headquarters Committee on Contracts.
- Manages logistics operations including management of logistics assets, materiel, contracts and personnel. Ensures timely, accountable and cost-effective delivery of peacekeeping cargoes and personnel.
- Coordinates and provides logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations in a field mission.
- Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
- Prepares reports on operational logistics issues.
- Identifies plans and manages special logistics operations.
- Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.

Requirements
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in business administration, public administration, supply chain management, logistics, law or other relevant field.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Job – Specific Qualification
- A certificate in Dangerous Goods Transportation in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and/or the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and/or International Maritime Organization (IMO) obtained in the last three years is required.
Work Experience
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in logistics, supply chain management operations or related area is required.
- Experience in all three modes of transport (air, sea and road) including the planning, coordination and execution of large-scale personnel and/or cargo movement operations at the international level is required.
- A minimum of two consecutive years of experience in the last five years, in establishing Letters of Assist (LOA) or similar agreements with government entities to provide transportation services, is required.
- Experience in developing sourcing solutions for transportation services in support of peacekeeping or related field operations is required.
- Experience in drafting and developing Scope of Work (SOW) and conducting technical evaluation for transportation requirements is required.
- Experience working in commercial logistics is desirable.
- Experience working with business intelligence systems and data analysis tools is desirable.
