The United Nations Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) plays a crucial role in enhancing the UN’s operational effectiveness and managerial accountability. Within this department, the Business Transformation and Accountability Division focuses on modernizing business processes and ensuring that the organization adheres to policies and compliance standards across its various functions.
This division is tasked with driving innovative solutions to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and foster a culture of accountability within the UN system. By leveraging data analysis and technology, the division aims to optimize resource management and support the strategic goals of the UN.
Moreover, the Business Transformation and Accountability Division works collaboratively with various UN entities to implement best practices and develop comprehensive frameworks that ensure transparency and ethical conduct.
Through its initiatives, the division seeks not only to enhance organizational performance but also to uphold the values of the United Nations, particularly in its commitment to delivering results that impact the lives of people worldwide. Ultimately, the work of the DMSPC and its divisions is vital in positioning the UN to effectively respond to global challenges and achieve its mission of peace, development, and human rights for all.
This internship is designed to be full-time (35 hours) and in-person in UN Headquarters in New York but can be remote or adjusted based on the availability of the successful candidate to part-time (20 hours per week) and hybrid modality.This internship is located in the Enterprise Risk Management Section of the Accountability Service in the Business Transformation and Accountability Division (BTAD) of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The Intern – Management and Programme Analysis will report to the relevant supervisor. The focus of the internship is the implementation of enterprise risk management across the global Secretariat.

Duties
The intern will be expected to:
- Conduct research on issues related to enterprise risk management and internal control system.
- Establish internal databases; manage data relevant to the scope of programme/project activities
- Provide support in consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
- Work on websites and other outreach materials.
- Perform other duties as required.

Requirements
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- Applicants must meet the following requirements: – Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). – Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Visa and Work Authorization Mandatory Requirements: For internships in the United States of America, interns who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant (such as F1 visa) status, will be required to obtain a G4 visa. Interns will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and if required, employment authorization (CPT/OPT), allowing them to undertake the internship. Interns are required to have the necessary hardware (computer) and internet access to perform the tasks stipulated in the internship.
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
