The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva seeks a dedicated Senior Human Rights Officer / Coordinator. This pivotal role involves strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of human rights initiatives, contributing significantly to global protection efforts within a dynamic international environment. The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Human Rights Inquiries Branch (HRIB), and the direct supervision of the Chief of Investigation Support Section, HRIB, within the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

Responsibilities
- Supervise the development of investigation plans, methodology and tools to collect and process all data.
- Support the Members of the Fact-Finding Mission on substantive, operational and administrative procedures and ensure their implementation.
- Manage the overall work of the Secretariat of the Fact-Finding Mission, including by facilitating constructive internal work-flows, information sharing, accountability and performance management.
- Facilitate the communication between the Members of the Fact-Finding Mission and OHCHR as required.
- Ensure that the Fact-Finding Mission carries out its tasks in accordance with agreed strategic objectives and standard fact-finding methodology, including gender perspectives.
- Coordinate the investigating and reporting tasks of the Fact-Finding Mission members.
- Accompany the Members of the Fact-Finding Mission in their field missions.
- Act as the main interlocutor on operational and substantive matters with duty bearers, member states, UN agencies, media and other stakeholders.
- Ensure the integration of gender perspective, including in the investigation plan, interviewing of victims, evidence gathering, analysis and report writing.

Requirements
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree), in law, political science, international relations or another discipline related to human rights is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in human rights, or combined experience in human rights and international humanitarian law or international criminal law is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in leading and managing teams of at least five or more staff members is required.
- Relevant experience in the field of human rights investigations including with UN international investigative bodies or tribunals is desirable.
- Experience in international human rights law and international criminal law is desirable.
- Relevant experience in the Middle East region is desirable.
