🎯 Role Summary
The Staff Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth administrative and operational functioning of the Office of Staff Legal Assistance. Reporting directly to the Chief of OSLA, the incumbent provides high-level administrative, coordination, and communication support in legal and justice-related matters. The role supports sensitive disciplinary, administrative, and appellate processes before UN tribunals, contributing to fairness, efficiency, and institutional credibility within the UN system.
🧩 Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate administrative workflows, priorities, and schedules within OSLA.
- Serve as a communication link between the Chief, senior staff, and internal stakeholders.
- Screen, prioritize, and process incoming correspondence and confidential documentation.
- Liaise with UN justice bodies, including the UN Dispute Tribunal and Appeals Tribunal Registries.
- Handle complex inquiries related to disciplinary and appeal procedures with professionalism and discretion.
- Maintain and update databases, case records, and filing systems (electronic and paper).
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting, including briefing notes, presentations, and knowledge management products.
🎓 Required Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in administrative services, HR, or related fields
- 5 years if holding a first-level university degree
- Experience with the United Nations or international organizations (desirable)
