Are you passionate about global issues and meaningful research? The United Nations is looking for a curious, dedicated Research Assistant to support vital projects that influence real-world change. Remote applicants are warmly welcome. ESCWA is seeking the services of an Individual Contractor (IC) in the function of a research assistant, to work with the social justice team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substantive research support on subjects related to the work of the Social Justice Team; in particular, on skills development and lifelong learning for decent work and social justice.
  • Review existing literature; conducting desk research; collecting quantitative and qualitative data from secondary sources.
  • Compile, tabulate and analyze different types of data sets on various socioeconomic issues relating to skills development, lifelong learning for decent work, and social justice.
  • Generate a variety of statistical reports and preparing presentations, tables, lists, charts, data sets, and/or diagrams for reporting and presentation purposes.
  • Draft inputs to presentations, speeches, papers, technical material, policy briefs and research papers.
  • Support the organization of meetings, online meetings, or capacity-building workshops.
  • Prepare minutes of meetings.
  • Draft final reports of workshops and meetings as requested.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in a social science related field such as sociology, economics, development studies, political sciences, international relations, public policy, or any other related field is required.
  • All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in socio-economic research, social policy research, writing of research papers and reports, and analysis of statistics is required.
