Are you ready to lead projects that create real global impact? The United Nations is hiring a Programme Management Officer for 2025. The Programme Management Officer reports to the Director of the Division for Sustainable Development Goals and will support the work of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Water. The Programme Management Officer also works closely with the Chief of the Natural Resources and Interlinkages Branch. The position is based in Jakarta.

Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and evaluates assigned programmes/projects on sustainable development issues, particularly those related to water and sanitation and their linkages with other development goals, including in the context of follow-up to major intergovernmental meetings such as the United Nations Water Conference.
- Undertakes research on the identification of new and emerging sustainable development issues in the area of water and sanitation and their interlinkages with the Sustainable Development Goals as reflected in the 2030 Agenda; presents analysis of information gathered and reviewed from diverse sources with plausible recommendations for the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Water.
- Organizes and prepares written outputs, such as draft background papers, analytical briefs, sections of reports and studies, and inputs to publications, to support the substantive capacity and resources of the Office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Water, in consultation with the Division for Sustainable Development Goals/Natural Resources and Interlinkages Branch.
- Initiates and coordinates outreach activities for the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Water; delivers presentations on assigned topics and activities.

Requirements
Education
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, international relations, economics or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programmes in data analytics, business analytics or data science is an advantage.
Work Experience
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required.
- Experience in policy-oriented work across a broad range of social and human development issues, particularly with a focus on multilateral arrangements and coordination in an international setting, is required.
- Experience with intergovernmental processes is required.
- Experience in building and managing multi-stakeholder networks and partnerships is desirable.
- 2 years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
