The United Nations invites dedicated individuals to apply for a consultant role aimed at fostering meaningful change. The Office of the United Nations High Commisisoner for Human Rights seeks a full-time Consultant in Washington DC to strengthen and expand OHCHR’s bilateral relationships with Washington DC-based development finance institutions (DFIs), including the World Bank Group and Inter-American Development Bank Group. The Consultant will engage in technical cooperation and policy advocacy to advance the integration of international human rights standards into DFI policies and reform priorities.

Responsibilities
- Undertake research, analysis, technical support and policy engagement with multilateral and bilateral DFIs in connection with operational policy review processes.
- Undertake research, analysis, technical support and policy engagement to support implementation of OHCHR’s “Remedy in Development Finance”.
- Provide follow-up technical support, stakeholder convening and policy engagement to support implementation of OHCHR’s “DFIs and Digital Risks” report.
- Provide technical support to DFIs’, independent accountability mechanisms, communities’ representatives and/or shareholder governments on human rights due diligence and remedy.
- Contribute to two (2) OHCHR policy briefs on topics concerning DFI operational policies and the environment.
- Provide advice and technical support on request to OHCHR HQ, field presences and UN human rights mechanisms.

Requirements
- Advanced degree in law, economics, international relations, political science or related field.
- 8 years of professional experience
- Knowledge and practical experience in relation to operational policies and accountability of development finance institutions and/or business and human rights
