The Communications Officer is responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of communications strategies designed to promote the protection of children affected by armed conflict.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and implementation of communications strategies that raise awareness, drive engagement, build support and have measurable impact with target audiences.
• Participate in the development and coordination of strategic communications partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to reach target audiences and maximize impact.
• Participate in the creation and management of compelling and relevant content for websites, create and moderate engaging and platform-optimized content for social media channels, including live content, tailored for digital platforms to advance digital communications priorities and campaigns work.
• Participate in the development of approaches to analyse, monitor, and report social media, web, and other digital content to measure results, inform content creation, and adjust ongoing initiatives.
• Draft compelling narratives and messaging on the work of the UN that engage target audiences across different channels and platforms.

Requirements

Education

• An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate degree, or equivalent degree) in communication, journalism, public relations or related fields is required.
• A first-level or advanced degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in any fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree in the specified fields of studies.

Work Experience

• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, international relations, or other rlated area is required.
• Two years of knowledge of current and emerging digital media platforms, their principles and technologies is required.
• Ability to write for digital platforms, such as social media or websites, for an international organization is required.
• Knowledge of media landscape and trends is desirable.
• Knowledge of risks to information integrity – misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, and threats in fragile, post conflict, and crisis environments is desirable.
• Ability to develop and implement communications strategies is desirable.
