The UN seeks a home-based consultant to contribute to the Global Land Outlook and related knowledge products. This role offers a chance to influence sustainable land management practices and drive impactful global initiatives. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Global Policy Advocacy and Regional Cooperation (GPARC) unit and direct supervision of the assigned officer, the consultant will support the development of various GLO publications and related knowledge products.

Responsibilities
- Conducting desktop research and data analyses; synthesizing recent scientific and evidence-based literature; presenting an engaging narrative in diverse formats;
- Employing data visualization tools and GIS applications to produce maps, figures, tables, and infographics in reader friendly formats;
- Contributing to policy and technical briefs on specific topics contained in GLO publications that require separate treatment, greater elaboration, and targeted dissemination
- Compiling case studies to showcase experiences from different countries
- Supporting the design of consultations and surveys

Requirements
- Advanced university degree in land use planning, integrated land and water management, or related subjects is required.
- A minimum of 5years of working experience on issues related to sustainable land management and restoration is required;
- A good understanding of the related policy and technical aspects, including related GIS and statistics applications, land governance and monitoring protocols, and institutional and finance considerations is required;
- Experience in drafting and preparing field reports and assessments, concept notes, technical briefs, and guidance documents is required;
- Experience working in a team setting is required; Ability to meet agreed deadlines and attention to detail is required;
- Knowledge of the UNCCD and related UN and intergovernmental processes involved in global environmental issues is an advantage.
