UN Intern – Public Information Vacancy at the Department of Operational Support. DOS provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services, and other solutions to the operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices-away-from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. CDOTS provides operational training, language and communications training, training on enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, knowledge management, and leads as the main facilitator of business process management activities in the UN Secretariat. This internship is located within the Knowledge Management Team in the Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS), Department of Operational Support (DOS) at UN Headquarters in New York.
The intern will work closely with CDOTS’ Communications, Outreach, and Digital Media lead, who also manages the UNTold: Behind the Scenes of UN Operations initiative. UNTold is a key feature of the UN Knowledge Gateway, an internal platform that offers guidance on administrative and operational support. This initiative takes an innovative approach to sharing best practices by using mini-documentaries and virtual global discussions to highlight operational support projects and the unsung heroes behind them. By showcasing these solutions, UNTold connects headquarters with the field, encouraging the replication of successful projects to save time and resources, while fostering collaboration between project implementers and potential replicators for more efficient service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Intern will be responsible for the following tasks, including:
- Edit and manage post-production for mini documentaries using Final Cut Pro X/Adobe Premiere.
- Create graphic assets for promotional materials for virtual discussions using Adobe Suite.
- Write, review, and edit articles for the UN’s internal platform, iSeek.
- Draft run-of-show scripts and follow-up emails for virtual discussions.
- Summarize virtual discussion sessions and manage related communications.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on the UNTold initiative.
- Write and distribute periodic newsletters highlighting CDOTS’ activities.
- Collaborate with clients to develop video scripts and concepts.
- Film interviews and produce promotional videos.
- Create various communications materials as required.
- Support metadata clean-up on the UN Knowledge Gateway.
- Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements (A or B):
- (A) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in ANY of the following areas: film production, communications, media, broadcasting, digital editing, or a similar field within the fine and performing arts.
- (B) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in the areas mentioned above.
- Applicants should have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views;
- Be proficient in standard office software systems (e.g., MS Office 365 or similar)
- Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in video post-production using Final Cut Pro and/or digital communications using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro).
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
- Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
