The United Nations is seeking a dynamic Public Information Assistant to enhance global outreach. This role involves crafting compelling narratives, managing communications, and supporting initiatives that promote international understanding and cooperation. This position is located in the Radio and Television Section, United Nations Information Service Geneva, Strategic Communications Division, Department of Global Communications. The Public Information Assistant reports to the Broadcast and Media Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Provides specialized assistance in the production and delivery of multimedia communications products and services.
  • Serves as an information focal point on UN activities open to accredited press and coordinates audio and video media recording/coverage/distribution of important events
  • Organizes and executes broadcast coverage of special events, coordinating with diverse partners and the media to highlight and publicize key events.
  • Performs audio and video archiving, as needed.
  • Oversees the distribution of audio and video materials
  • Assists in the production, editing and transmission of video/film projects, radio programmes, or live events online and on the air
  • Researches a broad scope of information sources, printed and electronic
  • Participates in planning and execution of live broadcasts or recording of programs; directs ENG camera crews shooting on location

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in public communication, international broadcasting or related area is required.
  • The minimum years of progressively responsible experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
  • Experience in video and audio production and editing is desirable.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in managing recording studio and operations is desirable.
