🎯 Role Summary

The Human Resources Assistant plays a vital role in supporting UNCTAD’s Office of Human Resources Management by delivering end-to-end HR services. The position contributes to recruitment, staff administration, training coordination, and HR data management while ensuring compliance with UN rules and regulations. This role supports the organization’s mission by strengthening workforce effectiveness, enabling talent development, and ensuring transparent, efficient HR processes within a global institution.

🧩 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support recruitment and placement processes, including screening applications, preparing candidate profiles, and coordinating assessments.
  • Coordinate job openings in Inspira and liaise with hiring managers and HR partners.
  • Support onboarding and contract administration, including reference checks, extensions, allowances, and entitlements.
  • Advise staff on HR-related matters, such as visas, travel documentation, and staff rules.
  • Assist in staff development and training, including logistics, coordination of workshops, and support to trainers.
  • Maintain HR systems and databases, prepare reports, and support HR projects related to workflows, induction, and electronic filing.
  • Provide general HR and office support, including correspondence, record-keeping, client responses, and supervision of junior staff.

🎓 Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Formal training in Human Resources (desirable)

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in HR, administration, or related areas
  • Reduced to 5 years with a first-level university degree or higher
  • At least 4 years of HR experience within the UN system or a similar international organization (desirable)
  • Experience with ERP HR systems, Inspira, HR data analysis, reporting, and training coordination (desirable)

Language:

  • English: Required (UN Level III)
  • French: Required (UN Level I)
  • Spanish, Arabic, Russian, or Chinese (Mandarin): Desirable
