🎯 Role Summary

The Gender and Climate Change Analyst will play a central role in integrating gender equality into UNDP’s climate strategies, particularly within the Climate Promise – From Pledge to Impact programme. The role focuses on technical support, coordination, knowledge development, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring progress on gender-responsive climate action. This position directly supports UNDP’s mission to help countries strengthen their climate commitments and implement gender-inclusive policies that advance resilience, equity, and sustainable development.

🧩 Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and Support Project Planning

  • Develop and coordinate gender-climate project work plans and budgets.
  • Ensure alignment with UNDP policies and Gender Equality Strategy.

2. Provide Technical Guidance

  • Review and advise on gender integration in climate instruments including NDCs, Climate Action Plans, and Gender Action Plans.
  • Support quality assurance and timely delivery of outputs.

3. Coordinate Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with UNDP Country Offices, governments, civil society, and gender institutions.
  • Facilitate inclusive consultations, side events, and country dialogues.

4. Strengthen Partnerships

  • Map gender-climate networks and help build partnerships for peer learning and collaboration.
  • Engage with women’s organizations and technical experts.

5. Monitor and Report Progress

  • Update gender-related indicators and reporting frameworks.
  • Analyze progress and propose corrective actions where necessary.

6. Lead Knowledge Management

  • Document lessons learned on gender and climate policy integration.
  • Develop training materials, case studies, and toolkits.
  • Support virtual and in-person capacity-building activities.

7. Contribute to Global Advocacy

  • Provide input to knowledge platforms, communities of practice, and global advocacy initiatives on gender and climate themes.

🎓 Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Sustainable Development, Environmental Management, Gender Studies, Social/Political Sciences, Development Policy, or related field; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience.

Experience

  • 2+ years (with Master’s) or 4+ years (with Bachelor’s) of experience in gender mainstreaming in climate/environmental work.
  • Experience in data management, research, report development, and facilitating stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to produce concise briefs, reports, and knowledge products.

Language

  • Fluency in English (required).
  • Working knowledge of French or Spanish (asset).
