Responsibilities

  • The Global and Regional Portfolio Analyst shall work under the direct supervision of the Regional Policy and Technical Specialist for Africa, and under the overall guidance of the Director for the Chemicals and Waste Hub.
  • The Analyst will be responsible for providing her/his own working station (i.e. laptop, internet, phone, Scanner/printer, assignment specific software, etc. and must have access to a reliable internet connection.
  • The Analyst will be given access to relevant information necessary for execution of the tasks under this assignment.

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful IPSA

Min. Academic Education  

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Business, Economics, Social Sciences or International Affairs, or other closely related field is required. OR
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above-mentioned fields of study, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Min. years of relevant Work experience  

  • Minimum two (2) years (with Master´s degree) or four (4) years (with a Bachelor´s degree) of professional experience in programme support in the Chemicals and Waste area. 

Required skills           

  • At least Two (2) years of experience working with one of the UN agencies, funds and programmes, specifically country offices on project operations (project operational policies and financial management system) are required. 
  • Full competency in the use of computers and office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) is required.

Desired additional skills     

  • Familiarity with reporting tools for the Multilateral fund (MLF) and Global environment facility (GEF) is as asset. 
  • Knowledge and experience in cross-cutting environmental conventions and funding mechanisms such as Montreal Protocol, Stockholm Convention, Minamata Convention etc is desired.
  • Experience supporting the setup of projects funded by the Global Environment Facility and the Multilateral Fund is desired.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting the implementation of projects funded by the Global Environment Facility and the Multilateral Fund in the Africa region is an asset. 
  • Specific portfolio support in Chemicals and Waste area, in the UN system is an added advantage
