The UNICEF Sustainable WASH Innovation Hub (WASH Innovation Hub), part of the Office of Innovation, is a global home for accelerating the scaling of transformative and climate resilient water, sanitation and hygiene solutions for children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • One podcast will profile leading voices in frontier technology, social impact investing and innovation. The overall aim is to position UNICEF as a public sector leader on innovation for children.
  • The other podcast will focus on the UNICEF Sustainable WASH Innovation Hub’s bold ambitions to share knowledge, connect and collaborate across sectors on transformative WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) innovations for children.
  • The two consultants will have clearly defined and unique deliverables to deliver but will be expected to collaborate on strategies and learnings and to maximize opportunities where applicable.
  • Your main responsibilities will be:
  1. Concept and format design
  2. Podcast development and production 
  3. Podcast promotion and placement

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in journalism or other relevant field and an interest in the topics of innovation and social impact.
  • *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • Work Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in creating, producing and editing compelling podcasts with examples to share of successful initiatives.
    • Experience researching and identifying talent and guests, conducting interviews, writing scripts, editing audio, launching episodes, and the promotion of successful podcasts with significant listener engagement across select audiences.
    • Experience arranging guest interviews and overseeing recording sessions.
    • Proficient with a variety of digital audio software and sound mixing.
    • Familiarity and experience utilizing podcast analytic tools
    • Familiarity with UNICEF and more specifically, social impact innovation for vulnerable communities, young people and children.
    • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft engaging scripts and narratives.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills including the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Strong project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
    • Sensitivity to cultural contexts and the ability to communicate effectively about complex social issues.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts. 
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Travel:

  • The consultant is not expected to travel.
