Join UNICEF as a Project Development Consultant (Writer/Editor) in a home-based role spanning 60 non-consecutive working days over 12 months. Contribute to impactful project proposals, strengthen communication materials, and support UNICEF’s global development and fundraising initiatives. The UNICEF Comoros Country Programme is highly reliant on a few donors and UNICEF core resource allocation. As such, there is a need to strengthen existing partnerships and to diversify the pool of funding that the country office relies on in order to fully meet the ambitions of the country programme. Being able to develop strong results project proposals and other documents aimed at communicating with resource partners will help UNICEF Comoros strengthen and diversify its partnerships. In this regards, UNICEF Comoros is looking for a project development consultant with strong writing and visual presentation skills to support the development and finalization of quality resource mobilization material.

Scope of work

  • The project development consultant will work closely with UNICEF Comoros programme sections to develop project proposals and concept notes, presentations and other material aimed at resource partners.
  • The consultant will ensure that the resource mobilization material are aligned with UNICEF guidelines, apply results-based management principles, provide a compelling narrative, use clear, user-friendly language (mostly English; in some cases French), and are presented in a visually-attractive manner.
  • The intensity of work to be provided on each document will depend on the specific product, ranging from in-depth support (for instance, developing a draft document based on oral input from a programme officer, and finalizing it based on further feedback) to lighter tasks (for instance, quality control and light editing of a fully written proposal).
  • The consultancy will be carried out remotely.

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: At least Minimum Bachelor’s in journalism, creative writing, communication, English studies, social sciences, law, or similar discipline
  • Work Experience:– More than 5 years of experience and demonstrated ability to write and/or edit high-quality materials.- Demonstrated experience in proposal development and resource mobilization.- Knowledgeable in rights-centered and results-based management approaches to programme development and implementation.- Prior experience with UNICEF for resource mobilization and/or donor reporting is desirable.- Familiarity with UNICEF’s programmes and children’s issues is desirable.- Familiarity with UNICEF writing and branding guidelines is desirable.- Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible attitude.- Good time management and ability to work under tight deadlines.- Proven ability to develop user-friendly, visually pleasing documents. Possessing design abilities is a plus.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required, good level of French is desirable 

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts. (This criteria is essential as a desirable and should be included in all job postings.)
