ROLE OVERVIEW
The Technical Officer (Prevention of Unsafe Abortion) provides substantive technical leadership to drive global research and innovation in comprehensive abortion care. This role is ideal for an experienced public health professional who can synthesize complex evidence into normative guidelines and evidence-based tools for global use. By coordinating research site monitoring and managing networks of partner institutions, you will bridge the gap between scientific discovery and field implementation. Your work will directly support WHO’s mission to reduce maternal mortality and ensure that sexual and reproductive health services are safe, accessible, and evidence-based.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop evidence-based tools for normative health products
- Design and implement global research protocols and assessments
- Identify and recruit national partner research institutions
- Synthesize complex evidence and commission systematic literature reviews
- Provide technical guidance to UN agencies and Member States
- Manage networks of institutions participating in research projects
- Publish research results in high-impact scientific journals
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Advanced university degree in Public Health, Medicine, or Social Sciences.
- Experience: 7 years of international exposure in reproductive health research.
- Languages: Expert proficiency in English (Reading, Writing, and Speaking).
- Technical Skills: Advanced scientific writing and research protocol development.
