Communicator for the Regional Better Nutrition Priority (2401982)

Thus, under the direct supervision of the Senior Policy Officer (Food and Nutritional Security), leader of Regional Priority 2 in Latin America and the Caribbean: Ending hunger and achieving food security and nutrition (Better Nutrition), and in close collaboration with the FAO RLC Communications Officer, in coordination with FAO Communication specialist in Country Members and with OCC branches and focal points. For the proper performance of the objectives of the position, technical and communicational assistance is expected for the dissemination of data, statistics, evidence, policies, plans, programs and projects for the reduction of hunger and malnutrition in all its forms, the sustainability of agrifood systems for healthy diets for all, the physical and economic access to healthy diets, the reduction of food losses and waste, food safety, as well as the promotion of markets and trade for food and nutritional security.

The Senior Advocacy Specialist will report to the Director of the Hub. Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Hub and in close collaboration with the Communication Departments of the Agencies supporting the Hub (e.g. FAO Office of Communications, OCC, Executive Office of the UN Secretary General etc.) the incumbent will forge strategic partnerships with individuals and organizations who can help produce content and promote Hub’s work and activities, as well as provide research insights to improve communications; to promote the work of national convenors, partners, and civil society actors.
