The UN is offering five Internet Research Intern positions, providing a unique opportunity for aspiring researchers to contribute to global initiatives while gaining valuable experience in international relations and digital research. Remote, but can be adjusted based on request by the successful candidate. This internship is located within the Information Systems Management Section (ISMS). The intern will work closely with an Information Management Officer and Associate Legal Officer of the ISMS.

Responsibilities
- Support with tasks related to internet research.
- Research methodologies and synthesize relevant literature related to issues of interest.
- Assist with tasks relating to information governance. The intern will be responsible for supporting ISMS on issues of information management, and in particular, internet research.
- Conducting targeted open-source research and analysis.
- Researching and summarising political, economic, social, technological, and legal issues related to the current Syrian situation.
- Developing frameworks and processes related to information governance.
- Compiling any relevant research and analysis into a final presentation for the IIIM

Requirements
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required such digital diplomacy, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or information governance is an advantage.
- Is your field of study one of the above, or another closely related field? Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent), master’s or Ph.D. programme or equivalent, or have completed a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. programme.
- Do you meet any of the these criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage.
