Program Overview
- As the UN’s global development network, UNDP Internships promotes transformation and links nations to resources, expertise, and information to assist people in creating better lives. We are collaborating with people in 166 countries to find their own answers to the problems facing both national and global development. Under three core thematic areas—natural resource management, climate change, disaster risk reduction—UNDP’s The Climate and Environment Team (CET) works with relevant government stakeholders to accelerate structural transformations towards green development in order to address the ongoing socioeconomic crisis, the climate crisis, and general environmental issues
- The CET encourages the government to fulfill its global commitments, including ratifying the three Rio treaties and fortifying the institutions and policies that guarantee catastrophe resilience and environmental sustainability. In addition, the program supports efforts to achieve environmentally conscious and sustainable development by fostering collaborations, strengthening networks with stakeholders, and exchanging information on how to effectively address climate and environmental concerns.
- The interns will support the unit and work closely with other CET colleagues to support day-to-day administrative tasks like data gathering, work plan preparation, briefing note preparation, etc. under the general supervision and guidance of the Project Managers and Technical Specialists. The interns will have the chance to gain knowledge in the areas of developing and implementing climate and environmental projects. The interns, who must be at ease with field travel, will be stationed in the UN Compound in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as well as at the pertinent line ministries and government organizations.
