Key Areas of Focus

1. Drug Demand and Supply Reduction

UNODC focuses on both demand and supply reduction strategies in drug control efforts. The organization provides technical assistance to countries in developing comprehensive policies that address the root causes of drug dependence while promoting public health approaches. Furthermore, UNODC supports initiatives that enhance the capabilities of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and distribution networks.

2. Organized Crime

Organized crime, including human trafficking, smuggling of migrants, and cybercrime, poses significant threats to security and development. The UNODC works with member states to strengthen legal frameworks, provide training for law enforcement, and foster regional and international cooperation. Initiatives like the Global Container Control Programme and the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Protocols emphasize collaborative efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
