The Office Assistant coordinates and performs the full range of office support, management support and administrative tasks, providing for the smooth and efficient running of the Office. He/she ensures quality and consistency of the flow of office work and information in the work unit. The Office Assistant reports to the Director, NSL. The incumbent operates independently, takes decisions on work priorities and exercises initiative for dealing with cases without precedents. Supervision received is focused on the quality of work output. He/she provides guidance and advice to other office support staff. The Office Assistant works closely with a wide range of colleagues in the Division with central units and external clients, performing and coordinating office and management support services and providing procedural guidance and information.

Specifically, he/she will handle administrative actions necessary for the timely implementation of projects, including recruitment actions, briefing schedules, and procurement of equipment, works and services as well as partnership agreement (LoA and LoU) and Travel Authorizations.

The driver will be in contact with FAO personnel from all levels of the country office, with national and international visitors, officials from the Government and other UN Agencies, project managers, consultants, and other personnel from within and external to the organization. He/she is often the first point of contact for people from outside the country office. He/she interacts on a day-to-day basis with personnel and officials from local office to ensure smooth programme operations of the Project activities in the targeted locations.
